"Parents based in north London seeks an exceptional and skilled educator to guide their smallest child on his initial journey to turning into an English gentleman."
When reading this post, you might naturally skip the wording "initial stages" as simple figurative language.
Yet, it may be the most significant element of this unique employment listing, as it seeks to find a teacher for a one-year-old.
Hundreds of submissions have now been sent in since the unnamed family posted their search for the £180,000 per year tutor, who has to be "someone very special".
During the past few weeks, the listing has attracted attention throughout the news, with numerous asking why?
Forward-Thinking Method
The CEO, head and founder of a global tutoring firm, which is assisting the family in their hunt, said that notwithstanding initial skepticism, he considered the plan "forward-looking", and "advanced".
When he met the family, he noted they appreciated the atypical aspect of their requirement, and how early in age their son is.
Nevertheless, they stated that they "were unwilling to delay any longer" to engage a tutor, as they had held off until their firstborn was five, and by that point "cultural bias had already become established".
What precisely did the family refer to by "cultural leaning"?
It's "comprehensive", he replied. "The way you eat, how you speak".
He explained the firstborn had absorbed "extremely delicate, body language" from the family, and had assumed their cultural norms. The family informed him they did not want the same situation to repeat itself with their new baby.
The intention: To bring in a English tutor, who needs to speak with standard English accent, to influence the baby right from the beginning.
Osmotic Learning
"A great deal of the development at the outset here is kind of acquired indirectly," said Adam.
It's through this osmosis that the family are hoping the child will acquire the British traits they want to impart.
He said the tutor needed to be somebody who went to "the appropriate educational institutions – the same kinds of schools as the family aspire to send their son to".
"The instructor simply needs to be the appropriate candidate, they'll be carrying out things they may not realize they're doing, effortlessly," he commented.
Money No Object
The family told Adam the successful candidate should preferably also have familiarity of or passion in equestrian activities, skiing, creative fields and instrumental training so as to inspire the child in a broad spectrum of interests.
Additionally though, he explained the family wanted the tutor to sign up the child on a selection of lessons so the child would be "pony-riding and learning an instrument by the time they are approximately three years old".
In the family's perspective, helping their son develop into a "English gentleman" will result in achievement and open doors.
"Considering the pros and cons of that, because it's definitely a status symbol," he notes.
Yet, notwithstanding all this guidance in "English culture", might the child adopt alleged cultural influence from the multicultural family he resides with regardless?
"Yes", answered he. "They realize this could fail, but they've simply adopted the perspective of, 'we should try and we'll proceed as early as we can', because the cost of it is not a concern," he stated.
Overly Optimistic
There are some in the private teaching field who have similar concerns.
Another CEO, CEO and founder of Blue Education, who also offer personal educators, wrote that "the process of adopting dual cultures, or indeed, becoming oneself, is something that must be experienced personally, not manufactured."
Peter explained that he had moved from the Far East to the Britain at the period of childhood, and had been educated experiencing and living dual heritages. He progressed to learn at the University of Cambridge.
"The notion that an individual can act as a embodiment of Britishness, someone who can somehow transplant the qualities of a English gentleman to a infant child, seems to me idealistic and unrealistic," he stated.
"From my perspective, having a typically English tutor from babyhood will does not automatically produce the result they want.
"I wasn't provided with such a figure, and nevertheless I have been lucky enough to live numerous of the experiences they desire for their son."
He continued: "The fact is, cultural identity can not be dictated from the external environment; it must be chosen, and it must originate internally."
Buying Britishness
Naturally, Britishness is something the CEO thinks can be instructed – and commercialized.
"I think the fact that the world holds us in this light is something that we should be cherishing|valuing|appreciating
